Jean-Pierre Jabouille, driving a Renault RS10 / Renault-Gordini, finish 14.59 seconds ahead of Gilles Villeneuve, in a Ferrari 312T4 / Ferrari 015, to win the "Grand Prix of France". The Canadian, Villeneuve, had earlier led for the first 46 laps.
